affichepioletor300More than the recognition of a performance, the Piolets d’Or celebrates commitment, spirit and values. The Golden Ice Axe awards find inspiration in the history of mountaineering and the authenticity of the rope party, promoting moral values and the best of human ambitions.

At this 23rd ceremony, Chris Bonington will receive the Career Piolet d’Or, awarde to him for the occasion by his rope companion Doug Scott.  Reinhold Messner will be present to honour the career of this great mountaineer.
